Maple Syrup isn't just for pancakes. Use it to sweeten applesauce, grapefruit, waffles, French toast, tea or coffee, baked beans, sweet potatoes, carrots, biscuits, donuts, ice cream or cereal. Maple Syrup has about the same calories as white cane sugar, but contains significant amounts of potassium and calcium, plus small amounts of iron and phosphorus. It also has trace amounts of B vitamins, and a low sodium content. Store unopened Maple Syrup in a cool, dry place. Once opened, store it in the refrigerator. If mold should form, remove the mold, heat the syrup to boiling and skim the surface. Rinse the container and refill with hot syrup. |
